I'm back!

I feel like that friend who moved back into town from a long vacation; the one whose trip was a real journey, with adventure and romance around every corner; where each detail is of the utmost importance, even if it were a mere glance or a dream; and maybe it wasn’t a big deal – but it always is to the storyteller.

And like that storyteller, I’ve been away from my blog for a long time, and have much to share: so let’s dive in.

I’ve been spending a lot of time in development lately. I have been working away with my pastry team in the kitchen, trying new recipes in the creation, and further development of one of my many delicious hobbies – making granola and pies! When it comes to cooking, I can’t stop the fervor.

It’s funny, as I think about cakes and pastries and planning my daughters wedding, it makes me think of my son Michael. You may or may not have read his blog on our site as well, but he’s been struggling with his weight for the last few years and has decided to make a change. He’s been training and eating healthy and simply making a very successful effort at becoming a role model. I just wanted to mention how proud of him I am. He’s inspired people and proven that it is possible to make a real change in your life if you put your mind to it, and I respect that. He’s also the General Manager of the Granville store. There’s a good head on that boy and that’s not just the mother in me speaking.

With the coming of spring there is much to talk about. Colin, my partner, is enjoying the last weeks of spring skiing, fitting in time to play a couple rounds of golf and we have both been getting our bikes ready for Vancouver sunshine.

It’s a busy time, be it weddings, pastries, or even just the two Meinhardt stores, but I always find time to do what I really love, and I think there is a message here. Like the storyteller always preaches, if you have passion and excitement about something, than every detail is important, don’t stress the small stuff, enjoy it. You only live once – dive in.

Till next week...
