Free Pie Anyone?

The cherry blossoms have come and are falling from their limbs. It’s spring and as they say, love is in the air. For my family this spring is a busy time for all, and the love we share together is worth it.

My daughter Leah and her fiancé John are 12 weeks from being married and the planning is an everyday job. The wedding will be held in Whistler, with friends and family joining us from Europe and Bermuda - where John’s family is from and where he is currently – as well as a double honeymoon in Bermuda and France. We are planning the catering (of course), the ceremony, reception, and a special treat I cannot reveal. It’s going to be fabulous.

Michael Meinhardt and Delia, his girlfriend met with Colin and myself in Whistler last week to enjoy the first of the warm weather. We talked family over coffee, vacations over lunch, and everything under and above the sun over dinner. It was a darling time.

Colin is spending five days a week on the golf course, my sister Debbie and her husband Dennis are off to the Grand Canyon to raft the mighty Colorado river and I have prepped my bicycle for a lovely ride from Whistler to Pemberton with Colin. Spring time is a bit of a last chance relax before the summers hectic glow lathers us all with a long schedule.

The family time has been great, but my other love has earned some time as well. I always adore making fresh, flavorful pies and this week hasn’t been any different. I’m really excited about my new creations and if you’re reading this and make it into the Arbutus store before July 1st, just let me know you read the blog – I’ll give you a free slice!

I’m also proud to say that the Arbutus Ridge Farmers Market will start in July. So for all you supporters of local farmers and craftspeople, come down every Saturday morning and shop for food grown, literally, in your back yard.
